Born near the river bottoms of Leonard, Oklahoma and raised across the state’s sweeping plains, Cody Brewer comes by his Americana, folk and bluegrass roots honestly. The inspiration and heart of his music is deeply informed by his surroundings, his family and his life experiences.
“My father and grandfather instilled the basic building blocks of bluegrass and country, and from that foundation, I have developed a more complex sound from my later musical influences in the jam, folk and jazz scenes.”
Coming of age racing four-wheelers across sod farms and foraging morels near the river, his songwriting is shaped by his unique perspective and upbringing. From the trials and tribulations of life to the power and joy of nature and travel, his songs explore the lived experiences and deep emotions that fill our days.
Inspired by the songwriting of Jeff Tweedy, Bob Dylan and Blake Mills, he aims to pay homage by documenting his point of view and the duality of this particular moment in time.
“Each of my songs marks a period in my life, a piece of my journey that I want to place a stamp on. I hope that it resonates with the listener in a moving way.”
